Globally 20 Best-Selling EV Models in the First Quarter

In the first quarter, the plugin electric vehicle market share was up by 2%, to 16% (10% BEV).

Looking at Q1's best sellers, the Tesla Model Y leads the pack as usual, with 263,773 registrations. Following closely behind are two BYD models: the #2 Song and #3 Qin Plus. The Chinese SUV is comfortable in the runner-up position. The Qin Plus achieved a record 112,222 registrations, allowing it to surpass the Tesla Model 3 and secure the third position with 105,727 registrations. Among the top 10, there are 6 vehicle models from BYD, the Chinese EVS Giant.

Besides the Tesla and BYD fleets, 2 other models are running at a top 10 pace—the AITO M7 with the Huawei-backed model ending the quarter in 8th, and the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV followed by, which is popular for stylish colors and a low price.

Volkswagen Group had two models in the top 20. The VW ID.4 finished the quarter in 15th place, and the VW ID.3 finished in 18th place.

The Chinese EV vehicle BYD is far ahead, and Tesla ranks second, with a difference of 197889. Far below these two, which are really in a league of their own, BMW and Wuling stayed in their positions. AITO’s rise was halted, by none other than its direct competitor, Li Auto, which moved up to 7th.
