BYD Seagull Sells 34,832 Units in April, Approaching 400,000 Units in Its First Year on the Market

In China recently, BYD Auto released its latest sales report.  According to official data, the BYD Seagull（Details/Price） sold 34,832 units in April 2024, with cumulative sales reaching 399,818 units. As a small pure electric vehicle under the BYD Ocean, the BYD Seagull was first launched in April 2023 and was later updated to the "Glory Edition" in March 2024, with a price range of 69,800-85,800 yuan.

In terms of appearance, the overall design of the BYD Seagull Glory Edition is not fundamentally different from the previous model, with dimensions of 3780/1715/1540 mm (length/width/height) and a wheelbase of 2500 mm. Based on this, the BYD Seagull Glory Edition offers six exterior colors for users to choose from, including a new color called "Arctic Blue" (which requires matching the "Deep Sea Blue" interior color).

Inside the car, the BYD Seagull Glory Edition basically continues the design layout of the previous model, with a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel in a family-style design, a 7-inch suspended combination instrument panel, and a 10.1-inch central control screen with built-in DiLink intelligent network system.

About models, the BYD Seagull Glory Edition offers three models for consumers to choose from. The entry-level Vitality Edition (guide price: 69,800 yuan) comes standard with front and rear through-style side curtains, a rearview camera system, cruise control, rear parking radar, hill starts to assist control system, 15-inch steel wheels, NFC key, integrated faux leather seats, halogen headlights, and electric air conditioning.

The Freedom Edition (guide price: 75,800 yuan) adds 16-inch aluminum alloy wheels, faux leather steering wheel, wireless phone charging, LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, and a driver's side window one-touch up/down with anti-pinch function compared to the Vitality Edition, with a price difference of 6,000 yuan between the two models.

The Soaring Edition(guide price: 85,800 yuan), the high-end model of the BYD Seagull Glory Edition is priced 10,000 yuan higher than the Freedom Edition and mainly adds front-seat side airbags, 6-way power adjustment for the driver's seat, and other functional configurations. At the same time, there is a difference in the range of the two models.

In terms of power, the BYD Seagull Glory Edition adopts a front-drive form, with a maximum drive motor power of 55 kW and a peak torque of 135 Nm. On this basis, both the Vitality Edition and the Freedom Edition are equipped with a 30.08 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack, with a pure electric range of 305 km under CLTC conditions; the Soaring Edition, with the support of a 38.88 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack, has a pure electric range of 405 km under CLTC conditions. The BYD Seagull Glory Edition is equipped with DC fast charging replenishment and VTOL mobile power station function, and the vehicle is claimed to be quantitatively replenished from 30% to 80% under DC fast charging status in 30 minutes.

In April, BYD's pure electric vehicle SEAGULL was officially launched in Colombia. Since its first appearance at the Colombia Auto Show last year, the BYD SEAGULL has been eagerly anticipated by local consumers. This compact electric hatchback, with its high aesthetics, cutting-edge electric technology, and excellent cost performance, is sure to become the first choice for young urbanites in Colombia. The launch event attracted more than 600 media representatives and customers, winning praise from local media and being hailed as Colombia's top new product launch event of the year.

The BYD Seagull launched in Colombia this time comes in two versions, both equipped with the innovative BYD Blade Battery. Under NEDC conditions, their range is 300 km and 380 km respectively. In addition, with DC fast charging, they can be charged from 30% to 80% in just 30 minutes.

BYD plans to expand its sales network to 20 locations in Colombia this year and has launched nine pure electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.

With the increasing competition in the new energy market, whether the BYD Seagull can continue its hot sales performance remains to be seen.
